I purchased the Twelve South SurfacePad for my MacBook Pro 15". This was my second Twelve South product, the first one I bought was the BackPack for my iMac. I bought the SurfacePad with the pattern on it.

The SurfacePad was very easy to install and the adhesive worked as expected. I was able to get it fit right the first time without any bubbles and without having to reposition it. It is perfectly fit to the MacBook Pro. People comment on my SurfacePad almost as much as they comment on the MacBook itself - about how nice the leather feels, about the design pattern. I am happy to report that SurfacePad doesn't come off at the edges and the adhesive is very strong and doesn't slip. I haven't tried to take it off yet.

The price is pretty steep for this product at $40 so I would only recommend it to someone who is really serious about protecting their MacBook. I'm thinking about getting one of those Speck cases for my MacBook now, since it seems kind of pointless to protect the inside and not the outside. I had a white iBook before and it got really grimy over time where my palms and wrists were, and the aluminum of the MacBook is not very nice to your skin. The SurfacePad is an elegant solution to both problems and since I use my MacBook every day, I think it will be worth the price in the end.

Step down or step up, not sure which is a better term. You step up from the lense but down from the filter. Oh well, if you have a lense that takes 62mm filters & want it to take 77mm(most pro's choice) filters you need this...or something like it. This is a all metal(not sure if it is aluminum or brass) step down ring. B+W is a company known for their excitent product's. You can tell by the price, :) but they do. I have used their filters for years & I will continue to use them becasue of their quality. Could you find cheaper, you bet. But for me I like the quality.

Purchased these brass rings after trying out cheaper japanese aluminum ones. Those were hell to unscrew from the lenses without a tool. These B&Ws work as expected.

The B+W step-up rings seem somewhat more solidly-made than some generic versions, and have a very nicely-done anti-reflective matt finish on the inside (which is important to avoid reflections between the front face of the ring and the back side of the filter); some of the generic ones have a much shinier paint job all over. B+W rings also feature a chamfer on the inner edge which helps avoid vignetting in cases where the field of view of the lens is very wide, and the outer front edge is bevelled and serrated to give a better grip when swapping filters. For such a simple device, it's obvious some thought has gone into these things. They do look nice too, if that's a consideration!

the manual does not show what line you have to hook up to the adaptor - it just saysd connect to a PSTN line I dont know what that is or where to find it no diagram or picture. then it says to connect to my phone, but does not say where and how.

When I plug in the USB to my PC my sound stops working on my computer. The software instalation instructions are poor and they are in black and white so you really cant tell what is what.

Whe I install the CD none of the drivers work and the software is not automatically installed you have to search for it and install it. There is no explanation of how this software works with skype or even how to use it. No explanation of settings or how to configure them. One example is to choose FSk or DTMF for a caller ID settings, but does not tell you what it is.
In fact the whole instuction booklet is like this it tells you to choose between settings but does not explain whatthose settings are or what they do.

This product has made me very angry, I am not stupid at all I am a web designer and program developer and have tons of tech gadgets. this product sucks and am sending it back.

I bought this device after spending many months of frustrating times with D-Link adapter and so far have not had any issues with the sound quality or dropped calls. Works best with our 4 handset cordless phone in the house. Skype lets you make $2.99 calls all US and Canada.

For those who can't figure out why Skype is not dialing from the regular phone here is a quick note on what I have found after an evening of trouble shooting.

Using the USB-B2K adapter and a home cordless phone set with Windows 7 and SkypeMate, I was finally able to get the phone to dial out.

The key seems to be that: You cannot use the compact version of the Skype Window AND the keypad must be displayed. With that combination the phone would dial out using the format of: 1 555 555 5555 and then press talk on the phone.

However, the issue is...after you complete the call the Add contact window comes up and replaces the dial pad (even though under the view settings the dial pad is selected) after that you cannot dial another number until you reset the window on skype.

I went on the web and found a 3.8 version of Skype and installed it on my Netbook with XP and installed Skypemate and hooked up the USB-B2K and was making calls in about 15 mins.

The issue seems to be the 4.x version of Skype and the way it handles the dial pad.

I use this with my dual sport motorcycle. First the helmet strap isn't long enough to go around a helmet so I had to use the sticker mount. That worked fine. Next, the unit I got was an open box return and the usb port was messed up. They sent me a new one. No problem. Then I got to actually take it out and use it and here is what I found out.

Going faster than 10mph it picks up the wind noise so bad you have to mute the sound. Also picks up a horrible high pitch whistle. The video looks passable when you watch it at its native size but if you expand it to full screen on your computer or TV you can't pick out any details. Everything is very pixelated. Which since it is I think 640X480 that is what you can expect.

Colors are washed out too. I kept saying to myself " I can't wait to get home and show the kids my video of how beautiful it is here" and then I get home and it is just crappy video quality. I am going to save up for a go-pro. You get what you pay for. I was cheap with this purchase and so I got a cheap camera with cheap video and horrible audio.

Would not buy again.

I've owned 4 different helmet cams. After losing my Tachyon micro (top rated & my fave) on the trail, bought this as a temp replacement but was so impressed that this is enough! It has the same great field of view and tininess of the Tachyon and great mounts. Great video, and comes with great mounts with leashes on each. As others have said, there's no instructions how to install and use mounts, so you are on your own and have to be a bit creative. And for the price it is just a steal. The only down side I could see was that it is not waterproof, so can't go surfing like my Oregon Scientific and Tachyon Micro. Aside from that, it has all bases covered. Don't hesitate.

Price is about the strongest selling point for this item. It has about zero instructions, funny color codes, and not all the mounting hardware.

The little "instruction" sheet that comes with this is just that, little. There's three tiny images on it and not much else. There's no mention of where the gasket goes, no mention of where the little white pads go, and no mention of how to connect all the wires to the radio. And I never did find the "Support Shelf for Radio in Rear of Housing." There's also some kind of black plastic plate that looks like a place to mount a radio but, of course, there was nothing on the instructions about it.

Most everywhere, including the radio that you'll stuff into this, probably has a black wire as ground. Not this unit. Mine came with a light blue wire marked as ground and the black wire marked for the speakers.

The only mounting hardware included is the knobs that hold the housing into the bracket, screws for the faceplate onto the housing, and some little screws for mounting brackets that don't come with the unit. Yes, it's pretty standard not to include mounting hardware, the stuff that actually holds it to the boat, but ads usually say "mounting hardware sold separately." Not "stainless steel mounting hardware." Just an oh-by-the-way, the built in nuts that hold the enclosure to the bracket are actually brass, with what appears to be stainless steal screws in the knurled knobs. Can you say, "dissimilar metal corrosion?" Granted, it won't be much but it will be there.

After all that, this is what I did:

I mounted a Kenwood KMR330, with only the front speakers planned for hook up at this time, into this unit. The Kenwood uses a wiring harness with plug that makes it fairly easy to connect all the wires. I soldered all connections and used liquid tape over all connections and on the bare wires ends left exposed on the wires I'm not using at this time. That includes the built in wires on this enclosure. They're stripped back about a quarter inch and the wires are left exposed. I didn't want a bare wire connection, that runs inside and out, left floating around my radio.

Then I used several zip-ties (not included) to bundle the wires together and just neaten things up a bit, and also to hold the unused wires together so I could store them in the very back of the enclosure. There's plenty of room for the extra wires though the antenna wire is a bit stiff and didn't want to cooperate when I slid the radio in. The pre-amp out RCA plugs do not have any kind of covers or storage places so plan on doing something with them if you don't use them right away.

I then took all the extra wires on the back of the enclosure, cut off the bare wires, insulated and waterproofed them, and bundled them together with another zip tie and was able to get them to curl together enough that they'll hide in the little cutout area on the back of the enclosure. I didn't want to cut them off because I might end up using them after all. And, there's no way to temporarily remove the wires you're not using right away.

Yes, I'd buy this unit again, just on the price point and it looks pretty cool, but I was really disappointed in the door and gasket seal. Once the stick-on gasket is stuck on the inside of the door, I guess that's where it goes- no instructions, the door wouldn't close and latch without using a bit of force, or striking it with the heal of my hand. Now, I understand that the seal is new and it might take a bit to "settle" in but I'd think just a bit more lip on the latch would make a huge difference. And, two of the faceplate mounting screws had a very hard time going back in. And yes, I know how to replace screws in plastic without stripping them out, been working electronics over 30 years.

Overall, for the price, this in not a bad unit but three things would make this a huge winner: Actual instructions, a door that closes and latches easily with the gasket in place, and let's make the ground wire black like the rest of the world.

The flip up door hinge is nothing but plastic and it can, and did break, on me right off the bat.

The shell of the unit is ok, just the flip up door lacks approval, and needs improvement.
